Eyelid Lift

Eyelid Lift Surgery in Atlanta, GA

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery to correct a droopy or baggy appearance in the eyes, making a person look old and tired even when they feel young, rested, and energetic. Men and women choose eyelid surgery to remove bags and puffiness under the eyes and raise upper eyelids into a more attractive and alert-looking position. Your eyes are one of the first things people notice about you, and blepharoplasty works wonders to improve your appearance. Eyelid lift surgery can also improve your vision if your upper eyelids have drooped enough to obscure part of your field of view.

Why Consider an Eyelid Lift with One of the Best Surgeons in Atlanta, GA

You might consider eyelid lift surgery if you’re unhappy with your appearance because of droopy or puffy eyelids or bags below your eyes or if sagging upper eyelids interfere with your vision.

Eyelid lift surgery can make you look younger, more alert, and more attractive by correcting:

In some cases, droopy upper eyelids may be caused by sagging eyebrows. When this is the case, a brow lift may correct the problem while raising the eyebrows to a more attractive position and smoothing lines in the forehead.

An eyelid lift can also be paired with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as a facelift, brow lift, or neck lift, for more compressive rejuvenation of your appearance.

The changes made with eyelid lift surgery—by itself or combined with another procedure—can make you look and feel younger and more attractive, a transformation that can boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.

How Is Eyelid Lift Surgery Performed?

Blepharoplasty is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. The specific approach and technique used will depend on which of your eyelids (upper, lower, or both) need treatment and the changes to be made.

In upper eyelid surgery, an incision is made in the upper eyelid’s natural crease, where the resulting scar will be well concealed. Excess skin and fat are removed, as needed, to thin and raise the eyelid. The muscle of the upper eyelid may also be tightened.

In lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made just below the lower lash line, where the resulting scar will be well hidden, or along the inside of the eyelid, where the scar will not be visible. Excess skin and fat are removed, as needed, from the lower eyelid. Fat that is causing bags below the eyes may also be removed.

When all changes have been made, the incisions are closed. As blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure, you will be released to go home after the effects of the anesthesia subside. You should arrange ahead of time to have a friend or family member drive you home and stay with you for at least the first night.

What to Expect After Your Eyelid Surgery

Plan to rest at home for several days following your surgery. You may experience some discomfort in the days right after your surgery, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medications. You can also expect some swelling and bruising at first, which can be reduced with the application of cold compresses and by sleeping with your head elevated. Other aftereffects of the surgery can include dry, watery, or bloodshot eyes. Prescribed drops or ointment for your eyes may cause blurred vision.

Dr. Crispin and his staff will provide you with detailed instructions on:

Most patients can return to work after one or two weeks. You’ll be able to resume light activity after a few days, then can gradually build toward your normal level of physical activity over the next few weeks. Final results will be visible four to six weeks after your surgery once residual swelling and bruising disappear, and the tissue settles into its new position.

Atlanta Eyelid Lift | Blepharoplasty - FAQs

The cost of any procedure depends on the surgical plan and time needed. Every patient is provided a quote after Dr. Crispin performs a thorough evaluation.

Three related facial rejuvenation procedures may be considered in combination with an eyelid lift:

  • brow lift rejuvenates the upper portion of the face, above the eyes, by raising drooping eyebrows and smoothing forehead lines and creases. In some cases, a brow lift is what’s needed to lift drooping upper eyelids.
  • facelift rejuvenates the lower portion of the face, from below the eyes to the jawline, lifting and tightening skin and underlying tissue and repositioning displaced fat.
  • neck lift corrects loose skin and displaced or excess fat below the chin and jawline, as well as banding and loose neck muscles.

Dr. Crispin will perform a thorough evaluation to advise if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

A blepharoplasty turns back the clock and helps reclaim a youthful look by removing excess fat and skin. Some patients have claimed to look ten years younger after the procedure.

Typically, the improvements made with eyelid lift surgery last for many years.

The goal of eyelid lift surgery is not to change the way you look or the shape of your eyes. However, you will have a natural, brighter, rejuvenated, and younger-looking appearance.
